Connected Cars Get a Weather Boost with Partnership between RONN Motor Group, Inc. and IoT Innovator, Fathym Inc.

Fathym’s surface weather forecasting technology increases safety and efficiency with real-time, hyper-local road weather information

Boulder, CO – September 22, 2017 Fathym, Inc., a leading provider of IoT solutions, announced today a partnership with RONN Motor Group, Inc. to integrate mobile weather sensors and forecasting into the RONN fleet chassis and co-develop an “Edge” IoT service platform that drives decision intelligence and driver safety features back to the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) within the vehicle.

RONN Motor Group, based in Scottsdale, AZ, is a multinational energy development and automotive company focused on addressing current global environmental needs through a full-line range of zero-emission transportation platforms including automobiles, minibuses, trucks, small fleet vehicles and future Hypercars.

This strategic collaboration will utilize Fathym’s sensors and in-vehicle weather forecasting and warning system, leveraging RONN Motor Group’s position as a world leader in all electric-hydrogen technology to build smart, connected vehicles. This also provides Fathym unique access to CAN (Controller Area Network) bus data generated by fleet vehicles that will deliver real-time observations that can enhance the Fathym forecasting model.

This actionable data will enable drivers to take the necessary precautions needed to ensure that they arrive at their desired destination safely, all the while maintaining RONN Motor Group’s commitment to creating globally-conscious unparalleled performance vehicles.

“Mainstream road forecasts are typically based on precipitation models, but the actual conditions of the road can vary drastically by location, even by a single kilometer. Snowy precipitation conditions do not always equate to snow-packed roads, for example. Fathym’s surface forecasting model uses pavement modeling and sensor data to deliver highly localized road weather forecasts. This technology aligns perfectly with the RONN Motor Group strategy to dynamically set up the vehicle based on pavement friction. The companies will also be collaborating on improving efficiencies in manufacturing. As RONN Motor Group focuses on reducing manufacturing and development costs by up to 50 percent, Fathym’s data collection, management and analytics capabilities will play an integral role as a means to diagnose inefficiencies. As a result, manufacturing plants will assume optimal operating levels, ensuring higher quality and productivity, and reducing energy emissions and resource wastage.
